What’s in my non-toxic postpartum cart

Bringing a new baby into the world is beautiful and deeply personal…especially if you’re striving to live a more holistic, low‑toxin lifestyle. The 4th trimester can be a vulnerable time and I’ve learned through experience that it’s calming to have all of my supplies stocked and ready to go when baby arrives. When it comes to new mom and baby essentials, less is often more and quality matters far more than quantity.

In this post, I’m sharing a comprehensive list of new mom essentials that align with a natural, holistic approach. This is more geared towards mom, but if you’d like a more comprehensive baby registry checklist, read my registry blog here.

These are the categories and products I recommend as a foundation after much trial and error to find what I truly prefer for my family. There’s also room here to personalize based on your family’s needs.

Postpartum Care for Mom (Here is what’s in my cart right now.)

Healing & Recovery

Caring for yourself is not optional, it’s essential. I use a 3 tier cart next to my bedside and stock it with all of my favorite things for the easiest access! I also love to have all kinds of snacks, hydrating drinks, and supplements right by me in my postpartum cart in those first weeks.

Essentials for mom:

  • Circadian rhythm friendly nightlights for those middle of the night feeds. I get my circadian friendly lighting from BonCharge! I have their blue light blocking bulbs in every room and they are especially helpful postpartum
  • Mitigate Stress for Magnesium. I keep their travel bottle by my bed to help me replenish after birth.
  • Earthley Wellness has my favorite tinctures. I add ‘ease the ache,’ ‘nourish her naturally’ & their ‘postpartum balance’ to my cart for immediately after birth.
  • Body butter or lotion. I love the body butter from Earthley to have in my cart!
  • I made an order from Just Ingredients to stock my postpartum cart. I love their protein bars, and their single serve electrolytes for quick hydration!
  • PaleoValley beef sticks and beef organs go in my cart as well. They are great middle of the night snacks, and high quality beef will help you replenish after blood loss.
  • Herbal teas for recovery and hydration. My favorite is Mama Earth tea, from good medicine tea. It’s a similar blend to the popular NORA tea, amazing for pregnancy and postpartum. I order mind from Azure Standard, but you can find it on their website as well!
  • Belly support band (optional) but can feel nice as your stomach returns to normal.
  • Heating pad. Those after birth cramps can get quite intense, I find a heating pad is helpful to soothe them. A warm water bottle works well too!
  • *Not in my cart but in my freezer, I make my own frozen pads with organic cotton pads. Cover with plain aloe gel & witch hazel and then freeze in ziplock bags!

  • Rectal thermometer
  • Cool mist humidifier. My prefered mold free brand is Canopy
  • Nasal aspirator
  • Portable nebulizer
  • Infant brush or comb for removing cradle cap
  • Fingernail clippers or file
  • Earthley Wellness tinctures like: teeth tamer, infant tummy relief, and ear oil. These are a must have for my medicine cabinet as baby grows!

Baby Nursery & Sleep

Having a great sleep environment will help both you and baby. Even if your baby doesn’t spend the first few months sleeping in the nursery, you’ll still want supplies for your nursery on your registry. When you’re ready to buy furniture, I encourage you to buy second hand whenever possible! Most of my big ticket items like dressers, and recliners, have all been second hand purchases.

But if you can’t find what you need second hand, here are some of my nursery favorites

  • Sound machine
  • Sleep sacks (2-3) my all time favorite is the Woolino. It is natural fiber, temperature regulating and grows with your baby! But cotton sleep sacks works well too.
  • Breastfeeding friendly pacifiers, we use Ninni Co
  • Bassinet
  • Organic cotton sheets
  • Organic mattress
  • Monitor, we like the Vava for a non wifi option
  • Mattress protector
  • Air Purifier, we have these in all of our kids rooms
  • Circadian friendly lighting. I opt for blue light blocking bulbs in our bedrooms for the most circadian friendly lighting. I order mine from Bon Charge
  • Changing pad
  • Changing pad covers (2-4)
  • Blackout curtains
  • Cotton receiving blankets (3-5)
  • Baby-sized hangers
  • Diaper pail and bags
  • Dresser drawer organizers
  • Storage bins for clothes and toy organization

There is no “perfect” baby setup, only what works best for your family. Starting with natural, thoughtfully chosen new mom and baby essentials helps simplify those early days and supports both baby’s health and mom’s recovery.

If you’re preparing for postpartum, I hope this guide helps you feel more confident, grounded, and supported as you step into motherhood.

✨ You’re doing an incredible job already.
